Scrap Mettle's three-round program
The Main Event
PROGRAM FORMAT
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Scrap Mettle is a 'community curated' event. What does that mean? Good question. After the initial application, there are two more "application nights" where the audience votes on who they want to advance. This might be broken up into genres, meaning there is a specific number from each genre who can advance, or it might be general, meaning everyone is up against each other.
ARE THE NIGHTS CONSECUTIVE?
No. The nights will be held over three weeks in order to give participants time to tweak their work as necessary. This also
helps build a following as they will have time to rally their troops to ensure they get the votes needed to advance to the final round. The successful candidates will be announced at the end of each night.
WHAT DO YOU WIN?
What everyone is working towards, how many winners there are, and how the individual nights are set up is unique to each field we support. Playwrights, after having a short selection of their piece read in front of our audience, may be competing for a produced staged reading; tech, after competing in an adult-style science fair, might be gunning to be featured in a well known tech publication; visual artists may be competing for a gallery showing; etc. It all depends on what the innovators in each field feel is the most important and most difficult resource for them to attain.
WHERE DO THE EVENTS TAKE PLACE?
Scrap Mettle Arts is based in Brooklyn, NY.
